Using windows 7 Task Scheduler to kill EMET_notifier.exe (EMET v3.0)

Post by wat0114 on 14/6/2012, 06:07

Apparently there's no easy way to end this process other than manually. It is possible, however, to use Task Scheduler to do this for those who don't want it running when logged in.

Open Task Scheduler and "Create Task" from Action menu, then modify Task as follows:

Triggers tab:
Specific user: Any user
Begin the task: At log in
Delay task for: 30 seconds (important because EMET_notifier.exe starts some seconds after log in)
Actions tab:
Action: Start a program
Program/script: Location and name of your batch file. eg in my case: C:\Users\my_account\Desktop\kill_EMET_notifier.bat
Conditions:
Defaults are ok
Settings
If the task fails resart every 1 minute
Attempt to restart up to: 3 times

Your batch file can be named whatever you want, with simple comands:

Code:
@ echo off
Taskkill /IM EMET_notifier.exe

I thought about doing this for a friend of mines as I don't mind running Notifier on my system. Funny how good ole TaskKill still comes in handy

Task Scheduler can be very handy. I use it extensively for scheduling Image for Windows backup jobs Smile

Indeed it can be. Microsoft needs to fix this issue with EMET Notifier though.
